2 Months Already?!

I seriously can't believe how FAST time is going! It seems like Lilly was just born yesterday, but yet I can't imagine life without her now. She is a dream! She's such a sweet baby!

She is in the 90th percentile for her height and weight--so her good eating habits are paying off!
She weighed 12 lbs 5 oz and was 23.5 inches long at her dr. appt. this past week. She is smiling and cooing like crazy. She is starting to recognize when mommy isn't RIGHT there and will go back to smiling when mommy is back in view again. She loves to watch her mobile while swinging away in her swing. I think she's made the connection that if she kicks her feet, the toys on her bouncy seat will move.

She is a content and happy girl--we are lucky, actually I should say blessed parents!

Good times

Upon gettting up from his nap, Owen wanted his music turned on (and up real loud). Then when I went to the kitchen, he discovered some toys I had stashed under his bed. He played with the blocks building tower after tower for over an hour while he listened to his music.
(which allowed me to finish working on getting Lilly's room set up :) )

Owen found Jimmy's boots and wanted to dress like Daddy...he was convinced the get-up wasn't complete until he had Daddy's hat.

Lilly is such a smiley happy girl! I finally got her room set up (well, pretty much...need to do some final touches still). I laid her in her crib to see what she thought of her new room. She loved looking around at all the bright colors and new scenery.

A snapshot of what's to come...I think they'll be good friends.

Who woulda thought

...a toddler would like drops in his ears??

Owen went to the doctor on Tuesday and was diagnosed with a double ear infection. Now he is on his first anibiotic ever. I never would have guessed giving him ear drops would have been so welcomed by the boy. I tell him 3 times a day that it is time for his ear drops and he runs to the couch and lays on his side in anticipation for his treatment.

At Owen's Request

Well, truth be told, it started out as Daddy's request for Owen to take a nap with him on the living room floor while he sang a lullaby.

Then Owen asked if "Lala" could join, so she did.

Then Owen asked if "MomMee" could join, so she did

If you looked in our window, this week you'd see:

Owen and his cousin Addi...they love playing together and are always sure to give one another an enthusiastic greeting. They are an entertaining pair to watch.

Owen anxiously anticipating his dinner. He loves him some "eezzah".
One cute girl all bundled up.

Lilly's Dedication

On Sunday, we had a parent/child dedication for Lilly at church...which means we, as her parents, publicly committed to raising her the best we can, through God's grace, in a godly way...to live our lives as an example of what it means to love the Lord. What a hefty task parenting is. May God work through, and in spite of, us to raise her to love Jesus and be a follower of Him.

Coincidence?

Okay...so, I have to admit the task of potty training is daunting to me. But Owen has been showing signs of being ready to train and I want to get him out of diapers sooner than later. Changing an infants diaper is a wake up call to how disgusting a toddler's diaper can be.
So, after some inspiring conversation with a friend this weekend on the subject, I decided to take a stab at it this morning. Todays results.... 2 pee pee accidents in his big boy undies, 2 times peeing in the froggy potty, and 1 time in going pee pee big potty! Not too bad for the first day!
Can I tell you about the "big potty" incident?
Well, I was in the bathroom putting on some make up this afternoon and Owen came in wanting to lift the toilet lid and put his "potty seat adapter" on it. He has been enjoying sitting there occasionally and I figured it was just another occurence of enjoying the novelty. The timing wasn't the greatest because we were just about to leave and I'd just gotten him all ready to go and Lilly was crying in the other room...but not wanting to nulify my efforts in training earlier in the morning, I indulged his request and put him on the potty. I told him I needed to go get Lilly, so he needed to stay there for a little bit. I went to the other room to fetch my crying baby and came back to check on Owen. As I walked in the door, I look up at me with a proud grin clapping his hands and saying "yaayyy!" Sure enough, he went!
...We will be hitting potty training bootcamp again tomorrow morning for a few hours.

1 month...+ a few days

Lillian Grace is officially 1 month old and beautiful as ever. She is growing and developing very well! She weighed 10 lbs 12 oz (90th percentile) and measured 21.5 inches (80th percentile) at her dr. appt.

Also, this week she received her first bath...and enjoyed it thoroughly--that is until it was time to get out and get dressed.

AND...Lilly graced her mommy with her first smiles. Here's the tail end of one:

...and some squinty eyed shots.
