Harmonica Tunes

The neighbor boy, Matthew, came over this afternoon and found Jimmy's harmonica in our desk drawer. Owen was enthralled by the musical instrument. Matthew tried and tried and tried to get Owen to blow into it so he could make music, too. Much to Matthew's disappointment, all Owen would do was BITE the silly thing.

Fast forward to the evening just before bedtime.

We'd just got home from town from getting a few things for our "new upstairs bedroom" and Owen went straight for the desk drawer to get the harmonica. I gave it to him to keep him occupied for a litte bit until Jimmy was done testing the smoke alarms. Well, "occupied" was an understatement. Owen discovered how to play the harmonica and was busy making music for over a half hour. At one point Barkley even expressed his amusement in a little call and response game.

We've got to get this boy his own musical instruments to play with! He LOVES listening to and making music!

Sunday Shoes

All ready to go to church and I told Owen we needed to get shoes on.
This morning he decided he should go for Daddy's shoes...

Fair Oaks Dairy Farm

Grandma and Grandpa Hermanson came down for the day and we took a day trip to Fair Oaks Dairy Farm. Here's a little bit of our day:
We started with a 3D/4D movie--Owen wasn't so sure about getting "sprayed with milk" during the movie.

Then we took a bus ride to go see the cows getting milked.

After seeing the birth of a calf, Owen got to play on the big cow statue.

Owen was patient for his late lunch and played "peek-a-boo" with Grandma while Grandpa and Mommy waited in line to order the food.

There was a giant pillow trampoline for everyone to play on. Owen convinced both Grandma and Grandpa to take turns taking him to jump. He would come down off of the trampoline with one and ask the other to take him up again...over and over.

Look, Great Grandma and Grandpa J.!

The train set Owen received from Great Grandma and Grandpa Johnson for his 1st birthday is one of his toys of choice right now. Owen has figured out how to connect the train cars--He put together all 6 of the cars in this picture by himself! The entire time he is playing with his train, he accompanies it with a "choooooo, chooooo".

Blast from the Past

Owen was upstairs with me for a little while today. He was helping me organize and clean some things to get ready for the arrival of baby sister Lilly. Look what we stumbled across...

He loved it just as much today as he did a year ago.

Concentration

...is what it takes to build a tower THAT tall!

A Boy, A Basket, A Book

Owen was a hurricane this morning. He went from one thing to the next at high speed. No, I mean HIGH speed. (which is a hint to mommy: "Today will be a two nap day--one just won't suffice.") I think he emptied every container he could find, drug out every toy, brought me several pairs of shoes (He's obsessed with shoes!), and left quite the trail behind wherever he stepped foot...much like a hurricane.
Here's he is--all the books emptied out of his book basket, sitting (for only a split second), and reading a book.

Where did the time go?

32 weeks ALREADY?!?! I'm not sure I can believe it! This pregnancy is going soo fast! Lilly will be here before I know it. Here's the belly shot:

Tonight we went over to Grammie and Papa's house for a little bit and Owen had a blast. Sadly, I didn't bring the camera, so you'll have to use your imagination on the visuals. When we first arrived Papa was working on a tractor and had one of his many toolboxes emptied with all the tools strewn around it. Owen gladly put every last tool back in the box--one at a time, of course. He was so excited to get to sit on the tractor while Jimmy started it up. He loved watching the exhaust pipe puff out smoke. Then a little later, Jimmy got Papa's motor bike running and took Owen for a little ride. He squealed and laughed with excitement. He asked for more every time Jimmy stopped the bike. Sigh....Boys and tractors and anything with a motor is always a recipe for endless fun.
