Leaf People

We made these little guys last week.  Owen and Lilly had fun making their little people--collecting leaves, and gluing clothes and eyes on them.

When we finished Owen called these two "David and Goliath."  Then he wanted to find something to make the hills that God's people stood on and Goliath stood on.

So, here's what we came up with.  Then he acted it out with his leaf people.

Sickie

Lilly Lou fought a terrible wheezy cough last week.  We ended up taking her to the doctor just to make sure it wasn't RSV like she had last year.  We got the all clear, but were told to go ahead to do breathing treatments to help break up the gunk.  She was quite the bear last week, but still managed to make us smile at her goofiness.

Lilly was such a big girl and so very cooperative about the breathing treatments.  She would sit in the booster chair and either hold the mouth piece or the face mask without any trouble at all. :)

Cereal

Gibson has been starting to take some cereal in the evening before bed.  It's hit or miss how much he cares for it.  Sometimes he will eat the whole serving.  Other times just a couple bites is suffice.
Little mommy Lilly always wants to help me feed her baby Gibby. He doesn't mind her helping now, but I'm not sure he will aways be so appreciative of her efforts in the years to come.  ;) She loves him lots. For that, I am thankful.

Favorite ways to view the world

Gibson loves to sit with support.  The boppy gives him just what he needs to keep his balance.

He even watched the Presidential Debates with us last week.  He was pretty into it.

He also loves to be on his belly.  He will turn himself in a complete circle checking out all that is around him. He can roll over, but doesn't care to very often.  He is just content to be on his little tummy.

5 months old

Gibson is sitting by himself for a few seconds at a time and can sit for quite a while with the assistance of the boppy pillow for balance.  He loves the exersaucer and babbles up a storm whenever he's awake. We all love him to pieces!

Fall Tree

Thank you, Pinterest, for the idea.

We went outside to collect pretty fall leaves and something to make a tree trunk and then set about creating.

Spur of the Moment Wagon Ride

Papa putted down the road one afternoon on his tractor with the wagon in tow offering rides to anyone interested.  As you can imagine, he didn't have to offer but once. Off we went.

(I would have included Grammie in the picture, but she instructed me to keep her out of the pictures, so I tried my best...)

Bathtime

France Park

Last weekend we went to France Park. IT WAS BEATIFUL! We all had a great time! Owen rode his bike around on the trails and Daddy pushed Lilly and Gibson in the stroller.  We saw the waterfall, had a picnic overlooking the quarry, fed the fish in the lake, and went on a little hike.  I see more visits to this wonderfl place in our family's future!

Sweet caring moment for her little brother.  Lilly was concerned it was too bumpy for Gibson, so she was making sure he was okay.

Fall + Saturday + Gramma and Grampa = Perfect Day

Some friends from church have a stocked pond and offered to let us come fish anytime.  We took them up on the offer a few weekends ago when Gramma and Grampa came down for a visit.  It was a perfect day. Picnic lunch and playing outside with family, couldn't get much better.

We bought Owen a fishing pole the night before.  I think he practiced casting incessently from the moment we got it out of the package until we got to the pond.  He thought it was the best thing ever.

Our only catch of the day, but it was a BIG one.

Grampa took everyone for a quick boat ride before we left.

Drawing 101

Owen wanted me to draw a train for him one morning.  So instead of just doing the drawing for him, I had him draw with me.  We did step by step, shape by shape.  I drew on on the top of the chalkboard and he drew on the bottom.  Turned out pretty good, I think! He was proud of himself, too!

Dressing Up

Oh Lilly Grace. She keeps us laughing and on own toes.  The stories I could share about her...

She found some clean laundry waiting on the steps to go upstairs and set to work putting every item on.  Which included: about 5 pairs of mommy's underwear and Daddy's T-shirt.

Can we build a ______?

We get asked this question multiple times a day.  The plea to build some kind of structure in the house. A barn? A house? A tent? A garage? Sometimes I think I might have run out of ideas of how to design it.

Here's how it usually goes down.

O: Mom, can we build a ______?
Me or Jimmy: Sure, how should we make it?
O: With the cushions.
Me or Jimmy: How about we use .....? (we usually try to steer him away from the couch cushion idea because we like to be able to sit on the furniture at some point before bed time.)
Then we build some type of structure together. And by together I mean, Jimmy or I do the building and Owen and Lilly squeal and skip around with excitement.
Once it's built, they fill the space with a random array of toys and play in it.

This particular one was a favorite of the kids.

Growing too fast

I feel like the 3rd time around I appreciate and notice Gibson's milestones in a whole different way.  I savor them more.  He is a dream baby, really.  He is just so happy to be here and soaks in every moment of life.  A good reminder for me.  It is amazing how much my children teach me.

Like I said: just happy to just be.

This one make me laugh.  Here's how I found Gibson after his first night in his crib.

More recently, he has been working on fine tuning some motor skills...reaching and grabbing for things to put them in his mouth.  He gets super focused and concentrated when he gets ready to make a reach.

Just love him to pieces.
